Good Read... but not mine.

Kevin Tuong Detectives Roger Bellerose and Kevin Fald outside of the Edmonton Police’s West Division headquarters. Over the last year, the pair have attempted to work with motel owners, after discovering families on social assistance were living in the substandard rooms.
Albertans in financial distress are being housed in substandard conditions at discount motels on the province’s dime with the government unaware of the squalor, a year-long police investigation revealed.
Edmonton Police began the investigation, dubbed Project Watch, when they noticed higher crime rates around a cluster of west-end motels. But as it unfolded, they found people on social assistance occupying rooms filled with mice, bedbugs, asbestos and mould.
As a result, police are investigating motels across the city and bringing in other agencies for help.
Det. Kevin Fald, one of two officers assigned to Project Watch, said he was stunned at the state of rooms covered on the government tab.
Fald added that Alberta Works, which oversees rooms for people in financial distress, appeared ignorant to the reality of the situation – the only interactions with clients were via phone.
“These places were a mess. What we found was there were bedbugs, cockroaches, mould, asbestos,” he said.
According data provided by Human Services in late 2014, the province placed 1,040 people in motel rooms on an emergency basis during the 2011-2012 fiscal year; in 2013-2014, that number jumped to 2,276.
The cost of these lodgings has risen to nearly $4 million annually.
Kathy Telfer, a spokesperson for Human Services, was unable to provide current costs and admitted the organization didn’t know about the state of the rooms.
“It was new information to us. We know that there is a challenge in finding temporary accommodations for families who are finding themselves in these situations and needing supports.”
Supt. Brad Doucette, who first pushed Fald to look into spiking crime rates around motels, said officers are now working with health personnel, city bylaw officials, occupational health and safety and Alberta Works to improve living conditions for the families living in these properties.
“We’re getting all of those folks to the table now that they know the issue is as big as it is.”
Doucette said he would like to see the government adopt a minimum set of standards for motel and hotel operators, which currently don’t exist.
“There is no rule that says they have to change the sheets between customers,” he said.
He said many of these places also had advertisements that don’t bear any resemblance to the reality of what the rooms are like.
“There are pictures on Trip Advisor of rooms that do not exist in that hotel,” he said.
Det. Kevin Fald said with the city having such a low vacancy rate there will continue to be a real challenge housing vulnerable people, which is why they need to work to improve these facilities.
“We’re really lacking in housing and in family friendly shelters, so we have to use the hotels and motels, so it’s in our best interest to keep them safe.”

"Un..." Well, actually it is "freakin' belieavable!"

Let me turn you on to a very wise, entertaining and enlightening young gentleman who makes a wide range of videos. His name is Yousef, but goes by "fouseytube"on Youtube. One of his main focuses is shining a light on the homelessness issue and how society at large responds to people who find themselves in such a position. He purposefully and tactfully as well as not so tactfully draws out attitudes & stigmas which are associated in relation to this issue. I would suggest you search out other videos of his on this subject I wish to share this link to one particular video with you that produced a measure of shock within me. And I thought I've seen it all. God bless you all.

P.S. I don't  know if I've mentioned this or not but I finally got to see my grandson after a long wait. I had a great time with him. Here are a couple pics of our time together in his playhouse.(And "yes", that is genuine surprise when I saw my daughter with her camera on us as I was making faces at my host.)

 (from an earlier Post)
So Sorry
Once again I must apologize, I made a mistake. I though I could release that story I've been talking about on the 22nd but am not able to until my trail date. I have been charged with uttering death threats against a housemate which is untrue, all stemming from elements which are concerning this story, so I think it would be wise since there are elements in the story that concern the trail so I had better leave it till then. Once again my apologies because I am only scheduled to enter a plea on May 20th. then a trail date has to be set. When that date is set I'll let you know.
Ya I know, that's a long wait. Oh well, I have something for you before then anywho and besides, It's not like many people are reading my blog anyway because I 'm not posting as much and as often as I should... so right now I feel like I'm talking to myself so I'd better stop before You people think I'm crazy. Later.

Heads Up

My next big story... and it will be big, will be out on April 22nd. Tell your friends and see you then. Love you. Here are a few tid bits that are no less important.

(the following comment was written by Brianna B. on Facebook in regards to this link to an article entitled "Red River Women" written by Joanna Jolly)

"This is such a well written article regarding missing and murdered indigenous women. Educate yourselves! Please read it."

With Aboriginal peoples making up less than 5% of Canada's population of 35 million, this figure is astonishingly high - Aboriginal women are four times more likely to be murdered or go missing than other Canadian women.“What most people fail to recognise is that the establishment of Canada was actually formed on colonial imperialism, fuelled by racism,” Fontaine says.
Newcomers, explorers and settlers did not understand, she says, that many indigenous societies were matriarchal.
“Whereas indigenous people understood indigenous women and girls as life-givers, as sacred, as equal, we start to see that shifting to, ‘No they're whores, they're promiscuous, they're squaws.’”
The Iroquois word “squaw”, in particular, bothers Fontaine.
“It's the word for female genitalia.”
“We have a swear word that starts with a C and ends with a T that is essentially what generations of indigenous women and girls were called.”

Praising Him in this Storm

Wow, it's been a crazy weekend and week so far. Firstly, a final confrontation with a slightly off balanced stalker chick to get her to leave me alone results with her going around calling me a "dirty Indian". then a confrontation with a housemate results in my getting falsely arrested for uttering death threats (he's been trying to get me kicked out ever since I solidified get his drinking buddy evicted from the house). then 4 am. sunday morning another housemate pounds on my door trying to incite me to violence or threats of violence over some chocolate being placed on his door handle (a prank of some sort) and my leaving lights turned on.
It's o.k. the next day he apologized stating that the trouble maker housemate brought him some cake(obviously with chocolate icing) that day. He said that the other guy was instigating trouble between us. last night at the Mustard Seed, A young woman tried to butt in line at the E- closet but I wouldn't let her. She then says she gonna go around and tell people that I'm a rat.
Now today I received an eviction notice due to lights being left on and that death threat thingy (I was sort of expecting it). lol.
Funny thing is that there are so many embellishments and lies in that eviction notice I just had to laugh out loud when I read it.
Let me tell you... I just have to give our Lord such praise, praise , praise. He's shown me such love I can hardly contain myself. I will explain but you may have to wait for my long awaited story entitled "Do Not Worry" to come out. Look for it prior to April 22, 2015

Parting Clouds

Well hello everyone, This is simply a follow-up to my "Post Christmas Post" of sorts.
I've had relatively a hard few months deals with my offspring issues and such. I also haven't truly felt our Lord's presence for quite some time either for whatever reasons, this isn't entirely clear to me. But that matters little to me now, be it lack of effort to seek Him or His wanting to see how I fair through this trial... fighting whispers from the adversary. All the while, without His clear and obvious guidance and peace in the forefront. All I know is that yesterday I felt Him touch my heart... something I've been yearning for, something I've been missing for so very long.
I've told myself that I would carry on praising Him regardless if I knew He was there or not... regardless if I would still be accepted into His kingdom or not (refer to My Life is not My Own). And I did, but it's hard isn't it. It's hard to keep going to church continuously... but that's kinda normal for me anyway. But I missed more than usual.
It's harder to treat everyone with respect when you don't feel respected. But we can still do it by choice. Even though I can be harsh and unmoving to many who tend to get in my way... I did manage not to hurt anyone during this time. Well... not in any physical or emotionally obvious way anywho, if you discount the letter I wrote to my landlord's Pastor. Which you may read about in a story I've had on the shelf for a while but started working on again.
Then I've received some news which I won't go into, but it really has brightened my year. OK, let's just stick with my month, lol.
My point is through, this whole dark period these past months... I never lost faith or love for the great and Mighty Creator who has so graciously found in His heart to forgive.
                                                                                                           Thank You Father.

This outta get yer dander up!

People ask me why I don't want to be apart of main stream society... this video shows in one aspect exactly why!  Go ahead, get mad cuz I did. But just ask yourself how many times over your lifetime you've done something similar, justifying indifference by telling yourself it's just a scam or something.  Remember... you can lie to yourself but not to our Father.

the passing of a king

"I never expected to be anybody important. Maybe I'm not now, but whatever I am, whatever I will become will be what God has chosen for me," Elvis once said.

Gospel singer J.D. Sumner recalls a woman approaching the stage in Vegas with a crown sitting atop a pillow and Elvis asking her what it was. She answered, "It's for you. You're the King." Elvis took her hand, smiled, and told her, "No honey, I'm not the King. Christ is the King. I'm just a singer."

Elvis stated, "All I want is to know the truth, to know and experience God. I'm a searcher, that's what I'm all about."
